BOOK FOR SALE
Name: Skin, Hide and Leather Defects
Price: $150
Description of the book:
The purpose of this book is two-fold. It is designed primarily to summarize and to appraise our present knowledge of the causes and means of identifying defects of skin, hide and leather. Its other purpose is to serve as a continuing effort to reduce and eliminate such losses, an effort started by Lewis B. Jackson, a pioneer in the search and elimination of such defects. It was through the suggestion of Mal Battles, who was Director Research at A.C.Lawrence Leather Company and who believed a book of this type should be published, that the first edition was written. It was through the encouragement of Dr Robert M. Lollar, Technical Director of the Leather Industries of America Laboratory, 1975-1985, that “Skin, Hide and Leather Defects” was revised.
The need for this book has been indicated by the tanning and meat packaging industries. From members of both groups many of the specimens shown in the book have been furnished. The specimens and photographs of diseased animals, various mites and insects used in the book are acknowledged and appreciated.
